Question by tampa: I am thinking of buying a Honda Goldwing. 1986 low miles owned by an older repair guy. What do you think?
Will not be used for regular transportation. Also are motorcycle training schools worth the time????
Thanks for the input. I now own the machine. It is in a different state and I will not see it for a couple of months. I am going to sign up for the MC school. Riding alot 15-20 years ago then some as of late is not sufficient. I have found out that everything that can be done to the bike has been done mechanically and that there has been lots of cosmetics. Whee!!! Again thanks.

A Goldwing is one of the best over the road bikes ever made. many will run over 100K miles without any major service needed. they are a big on the big & bulky side but are truly top notch road bikes.
yes, the motorcycle training schools with an MSF certified instructor are well worth the time and money spent even for an experienced rider as a reminder of things out on the highway.

Goldwings are nice touring bikes, Had a 89 Winger but sold it and I’m sorry that I did, Be sure and check it out real good first ,top to bottom. If the price is right go for it!!!
Yes riders courses are a great thing especially for new riders ,and they are all about safety on 2 wheels

Yes they are good bikes ,there are 3 of them for sale on the Tampa Graigs list , You need to be long legged they are for taller people it seems / Yes the school is worth the time. you cant go wrong if the price is right

Go for it, they are bulletproof machines. Its not unusual to hear of a running GL1200 with over 300,000 miles on her.
MC training schools are worth every dime you pay for them.

Yes to the Goldwing, and YES to the safety course. If you already have a motorcycle endorsement on your license, you could probably go for the Advanced Rider Course. It’s a bit less expensive, and bypasses the rudimentary stuff. PS You can even ride your OWN bike for the Advanced Course so that you learn how to handle that particular bike.
