Question by khanhpb: My 1993 Honda Accord has other problem right after taking from the repair shop. ?
I took my 1993 Honda Accord to the shop to replace the radiator.I came to pick it up.As soon as i arrived home i found out water spilled out on the road.I brought the car back to the shop. After checking it out mechanic lets me know that the water pump is broken.I don’t know if the mechanic, when replacing the radiator he used force too hard so the water pump cracked down.I really do not know.Anything related between water pump and radiator?

Best answer:

Answer by bkg
My first question is, are you sure the radiator was bad in the first place? And, how reputable is the shop were you took the car?

Question by Sarna V: own a 2001 Honda odyssey van, transmission out. complete repair 00 w/used trans is this good 4 Hawaii?
Are there any other considerations in requesting repair? The van has 155,000 miles.

Best answer:

Answer by Will S
I been in the business a long time and that seems high for a used transmission installed. I would call two or three shops and get ball park prices for a rebuild, at least in Az you could get a rebuild for 2500-2800 so I would personally spend a little more and get a rebuilt one, make sure you get at least 1 year 12,000 mile warranty parts and labor or go somewhere else.

Thanks for the input. I now own the machine. It is in a different state and I will not see it for a couple of months. I am going to sign up for the MC school. Riding alot 15-20 years ago then some as of late is not sufficient. I have found out that everything that can be done to the bike has been done mechanically and that there has been lots of cosmetics. Whee!!! Again thanks.

Question by xtraluvly03: How do I repair this “bar” or rod related to my powersteering in my 1990 Honda Accord?
It is located beneath my altenator and alters the powersteering. I do not know what the exact name for it. So, I do not want to go to a mechanic because they will rip me off and charge me $ 50 to put a bar back in place. The last mechanic to replace my altenator showed me what it was and put it in place for free. But he charged me $ 150 to replace my altenator so he ripped me off, I know. Does anyone know what this bar/rod is called and can I fix it myself without bothering my altenator? How much will it cost to repair it?

Best answer:

Answer by Michael B
It sounds like a support arm that stabilizes the pump, and should be “bolted” somewhere…it shouldn’t cost that much.

Why do you think $ 150 is a rip off? The alternator itself may cost $ 100, sometimes more…

Question by eseifert84: 1997 Honda Accord AC Compressor Repair Cost?
1997 Honda Accord
4 Cylinder
Need new AC compressor, maybe clutch & coil.
Located in Knoxville, TN
Wondering how much it would cost including labor? I got an estimate for about $ 1100 including the belt (apparently the belt might have worn through when the compressor started seizing up).

Best answer:

Answer by Erik D
Well most aftermarket parts stores you can get a compressor for $ 400-500 and you can get that with the clutch. Now the refrigerant the R-134a you can buy that with a filler hose for $ 20 and a belt well thats about $ 15-20 so then theres labor so shop around or find someone to do it on the side I usually take it to a shop have them evacuate the system and do the work then recharge it myself its easy if you buy the r-134a with a hose and gauge this way you can save some money and be safe. A shop will evacuate the old refrigerant for $ 50

Question by Stevo: Bad water pump on a 91 Honda Accord that is leaking all the fluid. Do I need to lift the engine out to repair?
I took off the A/C Compressor, Alternator, belts, and splash guard from the top of the engine. I still can’t reach the water pump which is run by the timing belt which needs changed also. This seems impossible as an at home fix. Any info would be appreciated!

Best answer:

Answer by lagarbo89fxrs
I’d first of all recommend getting yourself a manual because lining up the marks when installing the timing belt is extremely important, and failing to do so will result in bent valves, severe engine damage etc..You don’t have to lift engine although you do have to support it when removing the upper motor mount. You’ll need sockets and wrenches 10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm. also while your in there be sure to check the tensioner bearing as well as the cam and crank seals.Usually the hardest thing about doing a t-belt job on a honda is removing the crankshaft bolt. You’ll almost surely need a 1/2 inch drive impact gun or a special tool that is used on Honda’s for this purpose. That and working in a limited amount of space is the only other issue. Take your time and make sure you follow the instructions when lining up the marks. Good luck and hope this helps..
